

2 is the American sequel to Super Mario Bros. Similar to Super Mario World, you can spin jump, but you cannot throw objects vertically. U* is the most recent 2D platformer game style. Bunny Mario is also exclusive to this style, and Superball Mario can be used by shaking a Fire Flower. Bowser is replaced with Wario in this game style. Both games were released on the Game Boy, and as such, these games have no color.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is a sequel to the game Super Mario Land. This style allows you to pick up objects, throw objects vertically, and spin jump. Super Mario World is the fourth game in the Super Mario series. This style allows you to pick up objects. 3 is the third game in the Super Mario series. This is also the only style where you cannot jump onto platforms from below. is the first game in the Super Mario series. These can be Makers that you follow, Makers that follow you, or anyone on your friend list, as well as people that you can "recruit" via an in-game feature.

There is also a new feature that allows you to get other players to "Beta Test" levels before you upload them. The full list of Tutorials can be seen here. There are also in-game tutorials to help new players and teach others about features that have been changed from the last game. There are now more level types (such as Beach and Desert), all of which apply to all game styles, including ones they weren't present in. Unlike the first game, you are now also able to create slopes. All power-ups can be used in any style now with the exclusion of the Yoshi power-ups, the FLUDD power-ups, the Mystery Mushroom, and the Big Mushroom. All power-ups can be used on enemies now, allowing you to have something such as a fire-throwing Bob-Omb, a bunny Goomba, etc. The Kart Racing styles play out as Mario Kart 8. In addition, the amount of items you have are expanded. This also works vice versa, so you can hypothetically turn any game style into another. If you have a 3D platformer level, you will be able to convert it into any other level type. Unlike 2D platformers, these cannot be added onto with more ground, but they can be extended. In 3D platformers and most of the other game styles, you will start out with two platforms (or planets in Super Mario Galaxy 2's case). In 2D platformer levels, you will start out with a blank level. The player may place any enemies, blocks, power-ups, or other things eg may want in the level. As in the first game, Super Mario 3D Maker utilizes the GamePad as a level creator.
